How to Reach Shimla
AIR: There is one airport Jubbor Hatti in Shimla which is around 23KM from Shimla city. Flights from all major cities are available.
RAIL: The last major Rly Station is at Kalka which is 30 minutes journey from Chandigarh and around four hours journey from Delhi ( Shatabdi Train is the best option starts from Delhi at 6:30 am), after reaching Kalka either you can take a road trip by taxi which takes around two hours time to reach Shimla or you can take a more fascinating journey by a small gauge train established in 1903 and still functional ( The reservation for the Kalka Shimla small gauge train can be done on IRCTC websites as it is difficult to find tickets from Kalka). After taking the introduction of Sanjeevani Booti from the Yaksha sage, while going back, he gave the promise to go together to Yaksha Rishi and went towards the Drona mountain. In the absence of time due to the monster called Kalanemi en route, Hanuman ji walked through Ayodhya by short route. When he did not return, Yaksha Rishi was distraught.
Hanuman ji appeared to him, after that the self-styled idol of Hanuman appeared at this place. With which Yaksha Rishi built Hanuman's temple here. Today this idol is installed in the temple and people come from far and wide to see him.
The devotees who come here say that they get relaxed by coming here and their wishes are also fulfilled. Hanuman ji does not send empty handed to those who come here with a true mind. A 108 feet high statue of Hanuman has also been installed in the premises of Jakhu Temple itself, which you can see from anywhere in Shimla.
Lakkar Bazaar is famous place in Shimla that offer wooden articles by small group of Sikh Carpenters. Wooden walking sticks are famous.
The Jakhu Ropeway is a cable car in Shimla; this is a popular tourist destination in Shimla. By the help of Ropeway we can get awesome view of long statue of Hanuman ji, the Statue of Hanuman is the world tallest statue at the highest altitude of over 8100 feet.
